Employee Assistance Programs originated in the United States in the 1940s. There was a huge increase in the use of EAP services in the early 1970s. Then, Employee Assistance Programs begin to support employers in addressing their employees' multiple issues/concerns, as well as with timely responses to workplace problems that may lead to violence; physical, psychological or moral problems among other workers. Today, PPS focuses on improving the overall performance and work processes of the organization by confidentially supporting each employee.
